The throughput is even more in these areas and with the on-the-move strategy than sit-tight shops, except for those people with more wares and capacity to make more turnouts from wholesale, semi-wholesale and retail sales.

Hot products that sell in the rainy season and people/places to sell them in Nigeria

Rain boots, coats and gloves
Rain boots, coats and gloves are great products of high demand as the rains set in. Their usage cuts across the rich and poor as everyone needs some form of shield from the rains whenever heaven sheds its tears. But typically, these items find more popularity among commercial motorcyclists, stand-by private security guards and government law enforcement agents like the Nigeria police, Nigerian military, FRSC etc. They would be quite eager to buy these items on sight and at moderate prices, hence your making them available on time would arguable offshoot the demand and converting more supplies at these times means an enlargement of your bank account.

Home heaters
Away from the streets, the home is another port of call. Although not very popular in this part of the world, yes, home heaters are choice products of sale in the raining seasons here in Nigeria. Home heaters are electronic devices that help warm up the rooms when it gets cold. Mind you, there are different kinds of home heaters depending of capacity and price. You can start with the simple ones till you are buoyant enough to get the advanced ones.

Air conditioners
One other kind of home heater is air conditioners. Air conditioners regulate room, car temperatures depending on the weather and as specified by the user. I know what readily comes to mind is that air conditioner makes the room cold. But have you considered is also makes the room warm when conditioned to do so? Selling air conditioners during the rainy seasons is a very wise business move as more people would like to get the device to warm up their rooms and vehicles. Apart from sales, after-sales services and installation of air conditioners would also drive in additional money as these are always priced differently. So that would be shooting two birds with one stone. You could sale and also install air conditioners, perform after sales services on impaired air conditioners for home and/or cars, or focus on just sales and distributions and get commissions from people that do the fixing and servicing of air conditioners, which you link up.

Generators and Fuel supply
If you know an area where fuel supply is in short supply and/or with total or near total blackout of PHCN electricity supply, then this is your opportunity to supply petrol, diesel and kerosene and get rich. The rainy season is also a time for electric power generators to increase sales as more people patronize these gadgets for luxury and business. Power blackouts are typical of the Nigerian environment when it rains for sake of possibility of hazard. This could last several hours. For businesses that make little or no provisions for power outages, constant use of electric power generators during the rainy season is best choice. Arranging to always fuel the power stations and also perform or replace them for these businesses is a most wise initiative as they would readily accept you if you are found to be sincere and trust worthy.

Umbrellas
Umbrellas, O yes Umbrellas! Almost everyone uses umbrellas. Students, workers, farmers, government officials, athletes, everyone needs an umbrella, umbrellas when the rainy season sets in. Umbrellas come in shapes, varieties and sizes and there are different kinds of Umbrellas for different occasions. As such, selling as many varieties of Umbrellas during the rainy season is best bet as the market is just there to patronize you. Sales of Umbrellas are best done off-shade. You are likely to generate more sales if you just appear with a large bunch of Umbrellas for sale as the cloud just gets gloomy. People are bound to pounce on you for purchases as necessity dawns and if you give it out at moderate, reasonable prices, that is an additional advantage. Your point of sale could include traffic joints, bus stops, walk ways, schools, churches, mosques, political rallies, religious outreaches and celebration centres.

Shower caps for ladies
Virtually all ladies and girls use shower caps. Shower cap is a clothing material made of mostly nylon fabric and is worm on the head to prevent entry of water or other contaminants to the hair. Women love to wear it while bathing or swimming or while engaging in activities that would make room for peculation of water to their cherished hair. But once the rain sets in, the demand for shower caps heightens as more women are keen to purchase some shower caps to shield their precious hair from damage. You could utilize this opportunity and readily maximize it for business.

Rubber/plastic foot-wears
Under this category includes rubber slippers, bathroom slippers, plastic sandals, boots, canvas, rubber socks etc. Sales of Rubber or plastic foot-wears are bound to increase as the rainy season sets in. There is no doubt about this as the fact is clear. People would still wear their leather shoes but most people prefer their plastic or rubber slippers remain in their bags should the unforeseen happen, they come out confident and successful. Nobody prays for rains to come at periods when they are not that needed, but no one is to blame when heaven decides to shade some tears.
